SURF GEAR
Hook Point is a beautiful beach break bordering a large rocky point, it
produces a large variety of waves depending on swell and wind directions.
It has many peaks and can hold a unlimited number of surfers. It’s fun
when it’s small and clean and can hold a large clean swell where you can
use the rocky point to get outside. Keep the long boards under the ten
foot range as anything bigger is tough to get in the planes, removable
fins if you’ve got 'em. Your round trip to Hook Point covers one board, so
bring a winner. Long boards work great here, fun boards will work also.
Rubber: water temps will be around 57 degrees give or take a few. I think
this spot can be warmer than other places in the state. If you’re better
insulated (fatter), avoid the 5 mils you’ll melt on a nice day, 4/3's are
perfect, with 3 mil booties, gloves and hood. |
